Audio book ARC Review: A Fortunate Blizzard by L.C. Chase

From The Blurb:
Listening Length: 4 hours and 15 minutes
There are worse things than being stranded in a blizzard.
Artist Trevor Morrison has always appreciated the little things in life, treating each day as a gift. And with good reason: he’s been on the transplant-recipient list for too long now. When he learns just how numbered his days truly are, he resolves not to take them for granted. But he won’t be unrealistic, either—which means romantic commitments are off the table.
Marcus Roberts seems to have it all. He’s handsome, financially sound, and on the fast track to partnership at a prestigious law firm. In reality, though, his drive for success has meant no time for friends or relationships. Add in the fact that his family discarded him long ago, and he’s facing yet another holiday season alone.
When the biggest snowstorm to hit Colorado in decades leaves Marc and Trevor stranded at the same hotel, a chance encounter and a night of passion leads to more than either of them expected. Finding comfort in each other is a welcome surprise, but time is not on their side. Either they find a way to beat the odds, or they lose each other forever.

Karen's rating:

A new voice to an old story...

The story...
I first read this story when it was released last year and my feelings after listening to the audio book haven't changed so in regards to the story I'll stick with my original rating of 5 stars and my review...
I honestly thought I was prepared for this book...nope not even close. Somewhere around the point where Marcus admits to Trevor that he wants there to be more between them than just a simple hook-up and I started crying and there was no turning the waterworks off no matter how hard I tried. I don't remember the last time a book hit me this hard and tied me into knots emotionally. I'm not even sure the time I wanted an HEA so desperately for a couple.

Trevor and Marcus were two pieces of a puzzle made for each other. Each bringing what the other is missing to the relationship. The passion that existed between these two men literally jumped off of the page and grabbed my heart and I'm not just talking sex here...although that was pretty hot too.

At the core of this book is the very definition of the spirit of the holiday season. Faith, love, hope and family. 'A Fortunate Blizzard' is one of those rare books that I know I won't ever forget and quite possibly the best Christmas read of this holiday season and if not the best I can't imagine it won't be one of my top 5.
Needless to say when the chance came to listen to the audio book I once again found myself curious to listen to it and see if I would become as emotionally invested in the audio book as I did the e-book.

I honestly thought this was going to be a bit of a daunting task for the narrator for a couple of reasons the first one being that I've read the story and I know what's going to happen, I'm ready for it this time, right? Apparently not so much. The second reason being I haven't listened to this author before so I wasn't even sure that I'd like him enough to stay engaged in the story...again this turned out to not be a problem. Nick J. Russo kept me engaged from start to finish and yes, he reduced me to tears. While I liked the narrators interpretation of the story as a whole it was his interpretation of the MCs, Marcus and Trevor's voices that I connected the most strongly with.  The voice that Mr. Russo gave these men really clicked with the voices that I felt these men would have.

'A Fortunate Blizzard' may have been one of last year's releases but listening to the audio book was still a nice way to start off this year's holiday stories for me.
