Please welcome Wade Kelly and
Even though bankers' hours leave long weekends for romance, cosmic intervention is Grant’s only option when money doesn’t buy happiness and he’s got virginity in spades.
Grant Adams is a twenty-six-year-old bank teller who’s unlucky at love, yet hopelessly hopeful. After years of horrific first dates, he’s convinced he’s saving himself for true love. Surely he has bad taste in men because it couldn’t possibly be his persnickety nature that’s sent them packing.
Tristan Carr has been in a holding pattern since his daughter was born fifteen years ago, which suits his workaholic lifestyle just fine. This ex-Navy turned auto mechanic never wanted anyone interfering with being a weekend dad. For Tristan to rearrange his perfectly orchestrated life, a guy will need to be special. Or in the case of the newest employee at his bank, the guy will need to be adorable, shy, and open to the prospect of forever when it shows up at his window.
Claire and I looked at each other, and when Tristan didn’t come back right away, I offered her a cupcake. She said, “Ooh, these are really good. Did you make them?”
“Wow. I’m impressed. How’d you learn to bake so good?” She licked the icing off her lips and then took another bite. “What is this on the inside?”
“Boston cream pie filling.”
“It’s really good,” she complimented, with her cheeks filled with cake like a happy little hamster.
I told her, “I watched some videos online. I like to eat, but I don’t like paying to eat out every time I want something special. I learned to bake because I love cupcakes. They’re my guilty pleasure, and I eat way too many of them.”
“What’s your guilty pleasure?” Tristan asked as he walked back in.
“Cupcakes,” I said, rolling my eyes at him because I knew he was trying to get me to say something else. “What happened to the ants?” I asked, securing the lid on the cupcakes.
“I returned them to the woods. I had to walk all the way to the tree line so the ants would make their way in there. It’s dark, so I had a hard time weaving my way around the car parts. I think I need to clean up my yard.” Tristan sat next to Claire, and asked, “Do I get a cupcake?”
“You think?” His yard was a disaster area and I was thankful I didn’t need to point that out. I reopened the cupcake container and offered him one.

Interview with Claire, Tristan Carr’s daughter
in Bankers’ Hours, a novel by Wade Kelly.
Hello, lovely readers. This is Wade Kelly. I’ve stopped by My Fiction Nook to talk a little about my new book, Bankers’ Hours. It releases through Dreamspinner Press on Friday, March 25th. In preparation, I have come up with 10 different guest-posts on 10 different blogs to give you a fun way to get to know my characters and me. As in many blog tours, I am offering prizes! (See the list is below.)
For this stop, I’m going to “interview” Tristan Carr’s daughter Claire by pretending to be someone from Rolling Stone or Vogue or some such magazine where she would have to answer personal questions about herself. That’s just how crazy I am… lol.
Question: Please tell us your name and something specific about you.
Answer: My name is Claire Carr. I’m 15. I go to Winters Mill High School. I have two best friends, Kirsty and Danny. My mom and dad were never married, which I think is totally fine since my mom is sort of a man-hater. I think my dad’s better off. I see him every other weekend and it works.
Question: What is your occupation?
Answer: Duh! I’m a student.
Question: Do you have any hobbies?
Answer: Not really. I like to shop and I like to eat.
Question: Tell us some of the things you like.
Answer: Cupcakes, dancing, and working out with my dad. I love, love, love the TV show Glee and I was super bummed it ended. I used to watch it all the time with Danny.
Question: How about your dislikes?
Answer: Bad hair and homophobics. Danny’s gay, so I try to support him in any way I can. Sometimes that means standing up to homophobic ass wipes, though most everybody at school is pretty cool with it.
Question: Do you have a favorite band?
Answer: All Time Low! They’re awesome. My dad took me to a concert last May. He’s so cool that way.
Question: This is sort of personal; so don’t answer if it makes you uncomfortable. If your father were to remarry, would you be happy? If so, what kind of person would you want him to fall in love with?
Answer: Jeez, that’s sort of a hard question. I’ve never even seen him out with a girl. I guess I’d want him to be happy. He works a lot, so I guess I’d want him to find someone who’d understand his long hours. Um, and maybe someone tidy since my dad is kind of a slob.
Okay. Those are all the questions we have for now. Is there anything you’d like to say in summary?
Answer: I love my dad. If he was to find someone who made him happy, I think I’d be into that, but it would be weird. Like, I’d have two moms or something and I don’t think it would go over well with my real mom. Actually, it would probably be easier if he were gay like Danny, which would also be weird. My dad dating anyone would be weird. I don’t know if I’d like to give up my one-on-one time with him.
Thank you for stopping by to get to know Claire a little better. Leave a comment and tell me what your favorite type of cupcake to be entered to win a gift card and for a chance to be entered into the grand prize drawing. See below for the list of prizes and the rules to enter.
