My sister asked me if I could stand the sight my own reflection, if I’d caused enough damage yet, but I didn’t see myself when I looked into the mirror. I saw Kieran standing behind me, pressing a kiss to my shoulder while he undid my belt. I saw everything I wanted that I couldn’t have. Not unless I was prepared to hurt everyone around me.
Kieran was in a similar situation.
Were we monsters or men? Were they one and the same? Did we give a flying f—hell. We did care. Just not enough to stop, not enough to walk away, and I knew we constantly asked ourselves the same question because of it. If we could go back to when we met on the train…if we could erase the deceit, erase our first hello…would we?

If we could go back…
We will never go back.
Literally devoring a book because it triggers feelings from every direction is why reading is such a passion for me. And I found that with this addition to the Camassia Cove series that can be read as a standalone.
Bennett and Kieran are both in their early thirties, with a job, a house, a wife and kids. They go through life like everybody but does that mean they are whole, satisfied and are not, deep down, looking for more ?
Over a span of 5 years, Bennett and Kieran will meet and start a friendship…reassess their lives…love, care and hurt…build, deepen or destroy relationships whether on a familial or loving level…and it was so emotional to follow their journey.
Cara Dee put all her writing talents into offering a moving romance, full of layers, nuances, joys and crisis, reflections. So well handled imo and with the perks for me:
* first to have MCs who have the courage to communicate their feelings to each other, who don't shy away from the consequences of their actions and feelings even if slowly and with a little push needed, and who are devoted fathers,
* and second to read about love with both sexy times and deep and genuine affection.
This was brilliant and perfect. This book directly goes on my “favorite” and “to reread” shelves, without hesitation.
