Author Of The Month - K.C. Wells - Week Two

Welcome to our 2nd week of celebrations for the amazing

In today's post, we'll give you all the info on the Collars & Cuffs series, in parts co-written with Parker Williams, with excerpts from some of the books, plus take a look at five little-known facts about K.C., and all the way at the bottom will be another chance to win!

First up in this fabulous series, An Unlocked Heart:

Since the death of his submissive lover two years ago, Leo hasn’t been living—merely existing. He focuses on making Collars & Cuffs, a BDSM club in Manchester’s gay village, successful. That changes the night he and his business partner have their weekly meeting at Severinos. Leo can’t keep his eyes off the new server. The shy man seems determined to avoid Leo’s gaze, but that’s like a red rag to a bull. Leo loves a challenge.

Alex Daniels works at Severinos to scrape together the money to move out on his own. He struggles with coming out, but he’s drawn to Leo, the gorgeous guy with the icy-blue eyes who’s been eating in his area nearly every night.

Leo won’t let Alex’s hesitance get in the way. He even keeps him away from the club so as not to scare him. And as for telling Alex that Leo is a Dom? Not a good idea. One date becomes two, but date two leads to Leo’s bedroom… and Alex discovers things about himself he never realized—and never wanted anyone to see.

Secondly, Trusting Thomas:

Christmas is a time for goodwill to all, but Collars and Cuffs co-owner Thomas Williams receives an unexpected gift that chills him to the bone. A Dom from another Manchester club asks Thomas for his help rescuing an abused submissive, Peter Nicholson. Thomas takes in the young man as a favor to a friend, offering space and time to heal, but he makes it clear he’s never had a sub and doesn't want one.

Peter finds Thomas’s home calm and peaceful, but his past has left him unwilling to trust another Dom. When Thomas doesn't behave as Peter expects, Peter’s nightmares begin to fade, and he decides he’d like to learn more about D/s life. A well-known trainer of submissives, Thomas begins to teach Peter, but as the new submissive opens up to him, Thomas finds he cares more for Peter than he should.
Just as he decides it’s time to find a permanent Dom for Peter, they discover Peter’s tormentor is still very much a threat. With their lives in danger, Thomas can’t deny his feelings for Peter any longer. The question now becomes, can Peter make it out of the lions’ den alive, so that Thomas can tell his boy that he loves him?

Third in the series, Someone To Keep Me:

Eighteen-year-old Scott Keating knows a whole world exists beyond his parents’ strict control, but until he gains access to the World Wide Web, he really has no idea what’s out there. In a chat room, Scott meets “JeffUK.” Jeff loves and understands him, and when he offers to bring Scott to the UK, Scott seizes his chance to escape his humdrum life and see the world. But when his plane touches down and Jeff isn’t there, panic sets in.

Collars & Cuffs favorite barman and Dom-in-training, Ben Winters, drops his sister off at the airport and finds a lost, anxious Scott. Hearing Scott’s story sets off alarm bells, along with his protective instincts. Taking pity on the naïve boy, Ben offers him a place to crash and invites him to Collars & Cuffs, hoping his bosses will know how to help. Scott dreams of belonging to someone, heart and soul. Ben longs for a sub of his own. And neither man sees what’s right under his nose.

Fourth, we have A Dance With Domination:

Recently returned to the UK after living in the States since he was eleven, Andrew Barrett is determined to keep busy and make a new life for himself. He works full time as a copywriter and strips at a club on Canal Street on weekends. But it still leaves him too much time to think. Then he finds the BDSM club, Collars & Cuffs, where at twenty-nine, he is their youngest Dom. Young doesn’t mean inexperienced, however. All this activity keeps him focused with no time to dwell on the past. But the past has a way of intruding on the present.

It’s been four long years since Gareth Michaels last set foot inside Collars & Cuffs. But when he finally summons his courage and steps back into his former world, he finds the man who drove him away is still a member, and what's more, he wants Gareth back. Two men in pain need the freedom they find in each other, but it takes another man’s horrific plans to make them see it.

That was Matthew, folks,” Jim announced with gusto. “And next on stage, the gorgeous Darius!”
Andrew watched Gareth come out onto the stage. And then stared. Oh, my God.
Gareth came out in a pair of worn jeans that left nothing to the imagination. His feet were bare, as was his chest, which looked as if it had been lightly oiled. But what drew Andrew’s attention was the studded black collar around his neck—and the light dancing on the silver hoops through his nipples. Gareth’s blond hair was teased into an unruly, sexy mass, and Andrew could just about make out the hint of eyeliner around those striking blue eyes.
Oh, fuck. Andrew’s dick definitely liked what he was seeing.
Andrew stood fixed to the spot as the first track started up, “Kiss” by Prince. Gareth held onto the pole with one hand as he rotated around it, before hooking his leg around to rub his denim-encased groin against the pole, moving slowly, hips rolling. Andrew stared, his cock hardening in his pants, as Gareth undulated sensually, throwing back his head, his eyes closed, seemingly lost in the music. But when he lifted his head, he looked out into the audience—straight at Andrew.
There was no mistaking it. Gareth locked eyes with him, and his face creased into a sexy smile. He rolled his shoulders and lifted his arms to grasp the pole above his head as he pushed back against it, hips rotating in a way that had Andrew instantly picturing him straddled across Andrew’s body, riding him. And all the while, those eyes never left him. It was as if the rest of the audience had ceased to exist.
Andrew’s mouth was suddenly moist. He could feel his heart beating so strongly. He moved closer to the stage as Gareth lowered himself to the floor on all fours and crawled toward the edge of the stage—toward him. Gareth arched his back, tilting his arse higher and pushing back against some imaginary lover. He bit his lip, and Andrew had to hold back the low growl that threatened to escape. Gareth locked eyes with him once more, and the smoldering look that burned there had Andrew’s heart fluttering.
Gareth lifted one hand from the floor and beckoned to Andrew with his forefinger, smiling. Mesmerized, Andrew drew closer, moving as if in a dream. When he reached the stage, Gareth leaned close and brought his lips to Andrew’s ear.
Want you.” The breathy quality of those words had Andrew hard in seconds. And then the full import of his words hit home. Oh hell. He was so hard, his dick could cut glass.

In the fifth spot, there is Damian's Discipline:

The man who pimped Jeff may be in prison, but Jeff is still living the nightmare, selling himself to men and relying on pills to manage. Then he meets Scott, a young American man who could easily have been where Jeff is now. Scott’s friends extend a helping hand to Jeff, and he grabs it.

Leo and Thomas bring Jeff to stay with Dom Damian Barnett until they can find him someplace more long-term. Still grieving from losing his sub to cancer two years before, Damian agrees to help. But when he glimpses the extent of the damage, Damian wants to do more than offer his guestroom. Jeff is not a submissive, but Damian can see he desperately needs structure in his life. It’s up to Damian to find an answer.

He never expects that what he discovers will change both their lives.

Sixth in the series, Sandra's personal favorite, Make Me Soar:

Anyone who frequents Collars & Cuffs knows Dorian Forrester is built for pain, including Dorian himself. But everyone has it wrong. For six years, Dorian’s chased a feeling that remains tantalizingly out of his reach. Unteachable, Dorian can take anything and everything a Dom can throw at him. Still, it’s not enough. Dorian needs… something more. Something he won’t find at Collars & Cuffs.

Dorian’s search takes him out of the safe environment he’s known for years, out of his depth, and into a realm of deep, dark trouble.

Alan Marchant has been watching Dorian with interest for a while and knows there’s more to Dorian than his label of “pain slut” suggests. When Dorian disappears, Alan and his friend, Leo, set out to find him. But the disoriented young man discovered cowering in a hotel room is not the Dorian they know and love. That Dorian is shattered. It’s up to Alan to pick up the pieces and show Dorian there are better ways to fly.

They may be off on a new journey together, but their destination will rock them both to the core.

Dorian pressed his forehead to the tiled wall, chest heaving as he fought to get his breath back. He watched the slow slide of come down the wall, all evidence of his climax disappearing in a swirl of water down the shower drain. Legs shaking, Dorian straightened and took the showerhead from its rail to remove the last traces. He stood under the warm pulse and washed himself thoroughly, breathing in the fragrant steam that filled the enclosure. His dick limp once more, he rinsed off, trying to ignore the tightness in his chest, the churning in his stomach, the image of Alan’s expression, that look of dismay so obvious….
Dorian scrubbed a wet hand over his face and closed his eyes, as if that would blot out the picture in his head. No such luck.
He pushed open the steamed-up glass door and froze.
Alan was standing by the door, naked, leaning against the wall, his arms folded across his chest. His face was like stone, eyes locked on Dorian.
Breathing suddenly became a chore. Dorian gulped, hand gripping the edge of the door, his cheeks on fire.
“I hope that was good.” Alan’s tone was flat, his eyes stormy.
“Sir,” Dorian began. Then it occurred to him that he didn’t have a clue what to say next.
Alan held up his hand, and Dorian snapped his mouth shut. Alan regarded him in silence, and every second of scrutiny tightened that iron band around Dorian’s chest.
“Did it ever occur to you,” Alan said slowly, enunciating every single word, “that I had forbidden you to come for a reason? That it wasn’t just a whim on the part of a sadistic Dom?”
Dorian swallowed, but there was a lump in his throat the size of an orange. He wanted to look away, but that piercing stare had him pinned to the spot. He stood there, water beading on his skin, and shivered.
That cool look hadn’t changed one bit. “Did it occur to you that by denying you an orgasm for so long, I was making sure that when you finally did come, it would have been explosive? So intense that it took you into subspace?”
Oh. The breath left Dorian’s body as Alan’s words sank in. His belly knotted, arms like lead at his sides.
Alan gave a slow nod. He studied Dorian for a moment, as if deliberating what to say. Alan broke the stare to hang his head, and Dorian felt like his heart would break. When Alan raised his chin to meet his gaze once more, Dorian grew cold at the sight of those blue eyes, so dull, the light gone out of them.
Alan sighed heavily. “You just threw away your first chance to fly, boy.” And without another word, he turned and walked out of the bathroom.
Dorian stumbled out of the shower, slumping to the floor, his knees hitting the hard tiles with a crack. He hardly noticed. Bile rose in his throat, and he swallowed hard, fighting the urge to throw up. All he could see in his mind was Alan’s face, that closed-off expression.
What the fuck have I done?

Seventh, the penultimate Dom Of Ages:

Eli may only be thirty, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. When he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. So what if Jarod is probably twenty years older than Eli. What does age matter, anyway? All he can see is what he’s always wanted—a sub who wants to serve.

Jarod spent twenty-four years with his Master before Fate took him. Four years on, Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there’s going to come a point when Eli realizes he’s a laughing stock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a fifty-year-old sub?

After several missteps, Eli realizes that in order to find happiness, they will need friends who will understand. At a friend’s insistence, he visits Collars & Cuffs, where they are met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently and he dares to think he can have it all. Until a phone call threatens to take it all away….

“Things to remember, before we go any further,” Eli told the gathered men. “Sharp pain, or a feeling of specific pain at the tip of the sound? That’s the cue to stop. And you can experiment with the angle of the cock as the sound passes the base and enters the body. Slowly rotating it can help to ease it in.” He gestured toward me. “Did you see that throughout that whole exercise, Jarod wasn’t fully erect?” There were nods from the audience. “The sound felt all right to him, just not great. You’ll know when you’re making your boy feel good, when you’re hitting the spot—he’ll be as hard as a rock.” He smiled. “So now I’m going to make my pet hard.”
My breathing quickened as he picked up the silicone sound, twitching it so it undulated.
“Why does that one feel better?” Elliott asked from the front row, leaning forward.
“It feels… good inside me,” I said after a moment. “When Sir jiggles it, the movement is different.”
“He loves it when I jiggle it,” Eli said, waggling his eyebrows. This was followed by a burst of laughter. It was only then that I realized how silent the room had been while he’d been demonstrating the sound. Eli held up the pale gray silicone rod so that everyone could see it, before catching my eye. “More Surgilube, pet.”
I squeezed out more lube onto his fingers, and then held the head of my dick steady while I dribbled lube into the slit. I stared at the opening, and suddenly I was laughing uncontrollably.
Eli followed my gaze, and then he, too, was laughing. He shook his head at me. “Now you know I’ll have to explain why we’re laughing like a pair of fools, don’t you, pet?”
I was too busy trying to stop laughing to say a word.
Eli sighed. “The reason my lovely pet here is in such a state, is because he’s remembering something I did last week.” He gave me a look that promised retribution and then faced the audience. “Okay, I was in the bedroom getting dressed, the radio was playing James Brown’s “I Feel Good,” and I… I may have made my dick sing along.”
There was a stunned silence.
Eli stared at them. “Oh, come on, don’t tell me you’ve never squeezed the head of your cock until it looked like a mouth and….”
That was when the laughter started. Doms and subs alike were bent over double, crying with laughter.
“It does, doesn’t it?” Eli was wiping his eyes. “It looks like this gaping, eyeless alien mouth!”
“Oh, please, stop,” Scott begged from Alex’s shoulders, which were shaking dangerously. “My sides are hurting.” Before he could topple from his perch, Alex lifted him off and set him down on the floor.
When the laughter had finally died down, Eli stared intently at me, a look that clearly said “this is all your fault.”

And coming July 18th, the eighth and final book, fittingly called Endings and Beginnings:

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’ new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

This series, so wonderfully written, really explores each letter of BDSM and showcases the many, many varieties that exists within. While most of the books can be read as stand-alones, it is this blog's recommendation to read this series in order, as some of the nuances may be lost otherwise, since each book builds on its predecessor.

We hope you'll love this series as much as we do.

Five little-known facts about K.C.:

Well, until I came to talk about my favorite place to vacation, it hadn’t occurred to me that y’all might not know I’m a naturist (nudist to some of you US folks) I’ve been going to naturist resorts since 1998, and I love going to the naturist beach here on the Island.

I mean, putting on swimwear to sunbathe? That’s just …. weird! :P

I have an alter ego, Tantalus, who writes the sort of books KC Wells wouldn’t. [blush]

I have DVDs of all the TV series I watched as a kid – the Clangers, Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Mr Benn, and don’t get me started on Tom & Jerry!

I have probably watched the movie DUNE about twenty million times. (Okay, so I’m exaggerating – a little)

Much as I love the Isle of Wight? I would move to Maine in a heartbeat. Just ask my friend Jack who drove me around Maine for a few days this year and last year. Yeah. LOVE it.

More about the author:

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative.

An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….

Thanks for joining us to celebrate this fantastic author. Come back next week for Island Tales, a personal story KC has chosen to share, plus another chance to win!

Until then, happy reading!

  1. HI, I have a few of K.C's books but not read them yet. I look forward to reading them. :)

  2. This comment has been removed by the author.

  3. Very much looking forward to reading the last book in the collars and cuffs series, sad to see it end though.
