ARC Review: Te Quiero (Falling for You # 1) by Suki Fleet

Te Quiero
When Ally discovers dozens of naked photos of him have been posted online, he's devastated and tries to contain the situation, hoping it doesn't get worse. Only problem is his laptop has died, and Levi Francis—the guy Ally knows doesn’t like him—sees Ally acting suspiciously on the computers in the University's Physics lab. Ally's day can't get much worse.

But after Levi accidentally drops a love letter written in Spanish, Ally returns it and finds his assumptions about Levi are turned upside down. Betrayed and hurt by his ex, Ally knows it’s the worst possible time to start trusting someone but there’s something about shy, glittery Levi that gets under his skin.
Todd's rating:

Introverted and studious Levi is quiet and innocent.

Flirty and outgoing Ally is most definitely not. He's no stranger to random sex and his on-again / off-again ex-boyfriend has just posted naked sex photos of him on several online amateur porn sites.

Ally has had a crush on Levi for ages, but has always thought that Levi's stares were due to dislike, rather than any type of attraction.

Then while Ally is trying to remove his online nude photos from the web sites, he's caught in the act by Levi, who flees, after dropping a love letter. In Spanish, Ally's native tongue.

But when Ally returns the letter, which he (incorrectly) believes is one of Levi's assignments, feelings are divulged and mutual attractions revealed. No huge surprises there.

This story is both cute and sweet, with the shy, reserved Levi providing Ally with the strength he needs to begin pulling himself out of his current quandary.

Other than the pretty awkward "I really like you's," the main drama here is Ally dealing with his asshole ex-BF, Rob, and taking action to get his 'revenge porn' photos taken down.

Although this was only a short story, it was a nice glimpse into what Ally and Levi could become. Eventually. With time and work.

Yes, longer-term feelings are revealed; however, this one only covers around a 24 hour time period, so way too soon for actually believable "I love you's" to happen, so the story ends in what I feel is a nice happy for now, with the promise of more.

Overall, the story was fairly low angst, with a few sexy frottage scenes, and was well written, so I'd rate this one around 4 stars.

My ARC copy of the short story was provided by the author in exchange for a fair, unbiased review.
