After a meet-cute in a bathroom and a whirlwind courtship, Ryan is ready to introduce Scotty to his parents. But a misunderstanding and some stubborn cuff buttons tangle Ryan up in an oxford shirt at a really inopportune time. Can Scotty take this opportunity to teach Ryan one or two more lessons about falling in love?
I originally read this 30-page short story as part of Amy's "Curious: A Woman's Introduction to Gay Romance" anthology and remembered enjoying the story then, so I requested this re-release.
Upon re-reading, yes, I still really enjoyed the beginning of Ryan and Scotty's story, which began with a formerly-straight Ryan hiding from an amorous, buxom paralegal in the bathroom.
But Ryan wasn't the only one hiding the (*cough* *horny-slut* *cough*) woman, as Scotty was hiding behind the shower curtain as Ryan relieved himself.
Well, one thing leads to another and they've moved in together and Ryan's parents are due to arrive at any moment, when he has a major wardrobe malfunction, ending in a situation where a safe word was given.
This one was fun and fairly fast-paced, as we're given peeks behind the curtain as to how their 4 month relationship developed so quickly and wonderfully.
I loved how Amy fully fleshed out the characters, giving us a very good sense of both men in so few pages. I was more than a bit (happily) shocked that the story didn't feel rushed, which is often the case in short stories.
Plus, the whole versatile thing always gets extra points in my book, especially when the scenes are extra steamy, like in this story. : )
I'd give this one a solid 4 stars for Amy's ability to pack so much into this short story.
