ARC Review: Dom of Ages (Collars & Cuffs 7) by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams

Blurb:
Eli may only be thirty, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. When he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. So what if Jarod is probably twenty years older than Eli. What does age matter, anyway? All he can see is what he’s always wanted—a sub who wants to serve.

Jarod spent twenty-four years with his Master before Fate took him. Four years on, Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there’s going to come a point when Eli realizes he’s a laughing stock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a fifty-year-old sub?

After several missteps, Eli realizes that in order to find happiness, they will need friends who will understand. At a friend’s insistence, he visits Collars & Cuffs, where they are met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently and he dares to think he can have it all. Until a phone call threatens to take it all away.

Dani's rating:

This is my favorite Collars & Cuffs book since An Unlocked Heart, Alex and Leo's story.

The cover (dear god, that COVER!), the writing, the characters ... perfection.

Jarod is adrift following the tragic, unexpected death of his Master. He only wants to serve, but he feels old and used up.

Jarod broke my heart into a million little pieces. He's giving, selfless, and kind, a true sub, but also lonely, so lonely. He cleans the big house his Master left him, and when it's clean, he cleans some more. He talks to his mother (COOLEST. MOTHER. EVER.), who encourages him to get out there, but he resists.

Every time he visits a club and joins the subs, he is mocked and ridiculed.

Until Eli.

Eli is 20 years Jarod's junior and a Dom who's never had a sub of his own. But the moment Eli sets eyes on Jarod, he knows Jarod is the one.

Initially, Eli isn't a great Dom. He thinks only about himself, his desires. He doesn't ask about Jarod's wants, Jarod's needs. Eli is young and impulsive. He asks Jarod to stay the first night he meets him. And Jarod says, yes; of course he does. Jarod just wants to belong to someone.

Eli really steps up to the plate when Jarod has a medical emergency, and I believed in their HEA with all my heart.

Former MCs are present in the book. Collars & Cuffs is a BDSM club that has always been about acceptance and camaraderie. I especially enjoyed getting to know Scott and Ben better. Their story was not my favorite, but I loved Scott in this book. He's a wonderful friend to Jarod.

The surprise the subs help Peter plan for Master Thomas had me grinning like a fool. JOY!

This series has taught me much about BDSM. K.C. does her research and knows people who live the lifestyle, so these characters and setting feel authentic. BDSM isn't just whips and chains and ball torture. These can be a part of it, but it's more about the WAY you love, the way you LIVE.

Doms don't have all the power, far from it. It's powerful and BRAVE to submit. And the best Doms give as much as they get.

Eli and Jarod enjoy wax play and sensory deprivation. They kiss and caress. Eli loves to tease Jarod and deny him orgasm, but sometimes they are just Jarod & Eli, not Sir and his pet.

This is a beautiful story about second chances and new love. It's tender and sexy and REAL.

I fell in love with Eli and Jarod (especially Jarod!).

K.C. has one more book planned, which will conclude this series. It will be so hard to say good-bye to these men.
