Copping An Attitude
(Sin City 2)
Vegas is filled with human cast-offs, yet officer Parker McLean sees something special in hustler Slade Wolfgang. Unfortunately, so does Slade’s pimp who wants to sell him overseas in the sex trade.
Hustler Slade Wolfgang has little choice over his fate. At the age of twenty, he’s had to survive any way he can since being thrown out of his home for being gay. As soon as he hit Vegas, Slade was lured into the hopeless world of prostitution where he’s become a virtual prisoner to his pimp, the ruthless Julio Estevez. His evil keeper has even threatened to sell Slade overseas as a sex slave.
It’s another typical night on the Strip when Parker comes across Slade. His heart breaks every time he sees someone so young being exploited. Something in Slade’s eyes tells Parker the young man might be in real trouble though – especially after the recent spate of sex worker killings from a rival prostitution ring.
The two men’s lives become intertwined when Slade is almost beaten to death. The danger grows, but so does the relationship between Parker and Slade. Parker helps Slade to heal from the horrific attack and their bond deepens. But the human traffickers are still out there - and they’re still looking for Slade.
Publisher Advisory: Scenes of violence and a brief scene of sexual abuse. Although part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone.
“Then I need to say that when I told you I like you, I also meant that I want to be a part of your life.” He cleared his throat. “If you’ll let me. I don’t want to go to another county or state. I want to stay here so we can be together somehow.”
Parker pushed the tray aside and took Lonnie’s hand. “I want that too, honey.”
Lonnie dropped his gaze again. “I don’t want to be, like, asking you for favors right away and stuff, but do you think you could maybe help me get settled at one of the shelters or whatever programs you were talking about before? The doctor’s releasing me tomorrow morning and I have no idea where to go.”
It was the exact opening he’d been hoping for. “It’s funny you should mention it. I wanted to talk to you about that anyway. I know of the perfect place where you can stay for as long as you’d like.”
That had gotten Lonnie’s attention. “Really? Where?”
“At my apartment.”
Lonnie’s eyes widened and he gasped.
“It doesn’t have to be a…romantic situation. I have an extra room that you’re welcome to use. I’m offering it to you with no strings attached, in whatever way makes you feel comfortable.”
Parker couldn’t interpret the emotions that played across Lonnie’s face. He was concerned that Lonnie might have taken Parker’s offer the wrong way. His recent history of only being valued for his sexuality was something that Parker knew could be an obstacle to them developing a relationship as a couple.
“Do you mean it?”
Lonnie’s voice had been so quiet, so unbelieving. A surge of joy swept through him.
“Oh. Oh, Parker.”
Lonnie reached for him and Parker met him halfway, still mindful of his physical state. They kissed, Parker tasting the spices of the Thai food mixed with Lonnie’s essence. He’d been plagued by recurring erections since their first kiss earlier in the day. It would be difficult to be in the same home without wanting to touch Lonnie, but he’d promised to do what was best for him.
Lonnie broke their connection first but kept his arms wrapped around Parker’s neck.
“What if I want it to be a romantic situation?”
Parker swallowed down his emotions. “Only if you’re sure. We can take it as slow as you need.”
Lonnie frowned at him. “Can I please make up my own damn mind for once? I fucking want you, get it? No one’s telling me what to do. I don’t feel obligated to you or whatever it is you’re thinking. If you don’t want me like that, then fine, but you seem like you do so I don’t know what your problem is.”
Parker took Lonnie’s mouth in a heated kiss, tired of the tiptoeing on fucking eggshells they’d both been doing. He focused on one thing—his desire for Lonnie. He allowed himself to let go of every other consideration that had eaten at him since he’d realized he was attracted to the young man. Sometimes unexpected things happened, and even if Lonnie was the most unexpected thing that had ever happened to him, he didn’t care. For the first time, Parker was convinced that he would also be one of the most amazing people to touch his life. With any luck, it would be for many years to come.

Author Bio: M/M Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys a good saucy tale – after all, who doesn’t? Since she loves several genres, you may find your heroes in a contemporary, historical, paranormal or sci-fi setting. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She now resides on the northern coast of Oregon, where the constant rain and fog remind her of visits to family in England and Scotland when she was a child.
She is currently working on the Sin City Uniforms Series and a BDSM spin-off to the Gin & Jazz series entitled The Hampton Road Club. A follow-up to Bryan and Aubrey’s story in Rockin’ the Alternative will also be available in 2015 through Totally Bound Publishing.
